As part of Creative Engagement this year we worked on a really exciting project with the artist Anthony Haughey.
The focus of our project this year was photography and activism. Our project had a number of stages, starting with a visit to the Gallery of Photography to see a exhibition called the 'Lost Moment' . This exhibition showed us the role photography has played in civil rights in Northern Ireland while presenting it in the context of other international protests such as American civil rights moment and Paris student protests.
We also got to see a darkroom demonstration as part of our visit - where we could see how a negative was developed in to a photograph.
Pinhole Camera and Darkroom workshop with Brian Cregan
We were so fascinated with the darkroom and analog photography that we got in touch with Brian Cregan a photographer and darkroom expert. Brian helped us turn the Art room store in to a pop up darkroom for a day and taught us how to build pin hole cameras and develop our photographs.
Zoetrope Workshop with Anthony Haughey
"I really enjoyed this experience! It gave me an insight into how things were done and how much effort and work goes into making a film and it's production" Temi, 5th year
